Create an Account and Install

Install PWI on your computer if you haven’t already. You can do this by going to www.perfectworld.com/arc. Arc is the platform the PWI Entertainment Company uses to better manage PWI along with its sisters games in regards to issues and updates. You then need to create an account with Arc and install the game of your choice (PWI). Installing the actual game could take about an hour or more, depending on the processing speed of the computer you are using.

There are a total of seven servers available to choose from, each displaying a population range and the ping number in milliseconds. The servers with lower ping numbers have faster connections at that point in time. If your gaming computer isn’t that fast, you will experience less lag if you choose one of those servers.

Also, pay attention to the PvP and PvE notation to the left of the server name. This is a reference to the popular practice of PK (player killing other players). PvE (Player versus Environment) indicates that you if you want to kill other players (this feature is only available to those level 30+) while playing on this server, then you have to manually turn on this feature. When you have the PK feature off, other players cannot under any circumstances PK you and you cannot PK them. PvP (Player versus Player) indicates that you are not given the choice to turn the feature on or off. When you hit level 30, you can be made someone’s victim in a PK at any moment and you can do the same to anyone else.

If you’re new to MMORPGs or even just new to this game, consider creating your first character on PvE sever. Once you get the hang of the game, you can create a new character on a PvP server. Remember that whatever characters you create on one server will not be accessible from another server.

The PWI group frequently updates their games to fix bugs and make sure all gamers have the latest version of the game. Updates, also referred to as patches, take place every 3 to 6 weeks. Some are minor, taking only a few minutes and others include major expansions, taking as long as 30 minutes to install. Whenever there is a new patch, you will have to install it before playing or you will be completely unable to play. Server maintenance, lasting only three hours, is typically announced in advance by a few days so that you can know when the game will not be accessible. It usually ends up taking place at around midnight, depending on the server you’ve chosen.
