The Races and Classes

In PWI, there are currently a total of five races to choose from, with each race offering two classes:

Human – Blademaster and Wizard

Untamed – Barbarian and Venomancer

Winged Elf – Cleric and Archer

Tideborn – Assassin and Psychic

Earthguard – Seeker and Mystic

Each race will have its own distinct physical features and abilities. A class in each race usually either deals heavily in magic or physical damage/defense. For example, clerics are experts in magic, particularly the defensive kind. The archer, who comes from the same Winged Elf race as the cleric, deals more in physical damage. Often when a character is high in physical damage/defense, the character will probably be somewhat lower in magic damage/defense. The reverse is true for characters who are strong in magic. To help you choose a class, here is a brief breakdown of each character, in addition to the in-game descriptions.

Barbarian – Uses physical attack and high defense, making them especially useful in parties as tanks. Can turn into a tiger for increased movement and attack power.

'Wizard – Highest damage dealer of all classes. Uses powerful spells of all elements to kill at range. Learns a spell to heal him or herself.

Blademaster – Uses high physical attack and has high defense. Has the greatest variety of choices for types of weapons and how you can customize strengths. Has very powerful debuffs and can function as tanks.

Venomancer – Train and summon ANY pet to attack as player casts magic spells/ debuff spells on enemy. Can potentially solo any quest with the right pet as a personal tank.

Cleric – Knows healing magic and the best buffs. Can become powerful offensive magic users in their own right. Can resurrect others. Has the immediate ability to fly.

Seeker – Physical type, with high physical defense and attack, but uses some magic also. Uses buffs to function as secondary support to cleric and debuffs to inhibit foes.

Archer – Attacks by distance like a magic user, using physical attacks and some magical. Arrows/bolts can have added special effect for more damage. High critical hit rate. Has the immediate ability to fly.

Psychic – The fastest spellcaster, next to clerics. Deal powerful magical attacks and use buff spells. Can change into a fish for increased physical defense.

Assassin – Physical type of class that deals massive amounts of damage and uses debuffs. Different from Barbs and Blademasters in that for the Assassin, the physical defense and HP are not the best traits.

Mystic – “A jack of all trades” sort of class. Uses wood magic spells and summons plants from a fixed list (unlike a venomancer) to attack, heal, or lend support.

Customization Once you choose your race and class, you will be able to customize your character down to almost every detail imaginable. You can choose the gender, the shape of your eyes, the size of your mouth, the complexion, the color/style of hair and more – all to make your character a mirror image of you if you choose. On the other hand, if you want your character to have purple hair and green eyes, you can choose to do that, too. For the purpose of writing this guide, I have chosen to play a cleric. I made my character have short, bright, blue hair since I usually go with long dark hair.

When you are ready to finalize the customization, make sure it is what you want. You will only have 48 hours from the time your character has been created to make any changes. To change the features of your character later on, you will need a makeup scroll, which is good for only one use and costs quite a bit of coin.

The selection of a character name can be time consuming because so many of them are already in use. Be prepared because almost every character from every book, game, movie, and TV show that you like will be unavailable to you. One way of getting around this problem is to add an extra vowel at the end of the name you want. For example, instead of Selena, see if Selenaa is available. If you want to create a name from scratch, consider combining two smaller words into one name, such as EmeraldFire, or abbreviating one of the words to make the name look like EmrldFire. For my cleric, I have chosen the name PoisonedBlk, which I shortened from Poisoned Black. Please keep in mind that some names will be available on Server X, but not on Server Y because it is already being used on Server Y. PoisonedBlk is actually a name from another character, a venomancer, which I made on the Heavens Tear server.
