Etiquette
Not many guides have notes about in-game etiquette, which I think is important for new players to understand. Firstly, you will not make many friends if you are stealing kills from other players. A kill belongs to whoever hit the monster first. There are times when two people hit the same monster at the same time. If that happens, rather than fight, just go find another one to kill. Better yet, go a little farther in any direction at all to have an area to yourself so it will not happen again. If you want to be friendly, you can ask this person to squad with you so both of your kills will count towards the same quest and you split the experience/spirit points. (Click on the other character, then right-click on their face, and go to “Invite to Squad.”)
It’s also bad etiquette to pick up drops that are not yours as you walk by, at least while someone else is around. It is possible this person does not care about things like iron ore shot or even a weapon with its name in purple font (indicating it is more valuable and has extra stats) because he/she does not have room any room left in inventory, but it is better to just avoid a possible confrontation. You probably would not appreciate it if you were about to pick something up and someone else picked it up first. If you really see something you like, look to make sure no one else is around, and then, pick it up.
If you are a cleric, it is good etiquette to be helpful by buffing others or even resurrecting them. Everyone appreciates kindness and it’s a good way to make friends. As a cleric, when I am grinding or on my way to a quest and I see someone killing monsters alone, I silently buff their character so they have a little bit of an easier time killing. They are thankful and it barely costs any mana points for me. Similarly, if you are lucky enough to be buffed by a cleric passing by, you should always give a quick “ty” (thank you). If you are resurrected by a cleric without having to ask, you should be especially grateful to him or her because that ability brings you back to life without you losing any experience points when you otherwise should have. Be kind to others and don’t let others’ kindness go unnoticed.
